What you need
Playing through an HX Stomp? You'll see what you need for that on the next page.
How will you play it?
Your Harmonizer can work with either:
Computer · Step 1
Install the plugin
Your Harmonizer comes with the plugin and the app. Download them on your computer and run the installer.
Windows: the installer isn't signed yet, so you'll see "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
Computer · Step 2
Where do you want to play?
Computer · Step 3
Open the app
- Open MTG MIDI Harmonizer from Applications (Mac) or the Start menu (Windows). On a Mac, click Allow when it asks to use the microphone.
- Type in your licence key.
- Click Audio & MIDI. Pick your audio interface, then the input your mic is on.
- Plug in your Harmonizer. The app picks it up.
Wear headphones. Laptop speakers feed back into the mic.
Computer · Step 3
Ableton Live
Quickest way: open my template and everything's already set up.
Setting it up yourself:
- Settings → Plug-Ins: turn on Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders, then Rescan.
- Audio track with your mic on it, Monitor In. Drag MTG MIDI Harmonizer onto it and type in your key.
- MIDI track: From = your Harmonizer, To = the audio track → MTG MIDI Harmonizer. Monitor In, record-armed.
- Settings → Link, Tempo & MIDI: your Harmonizer's input, Track and Remote on.
Computer · Step 3
Logic Pro
Quickest way: open my template and everything's already set up.
Setting it up yourself:
- New Software Instrument track. In the Instrument slot: AU MIDI-controlled Effects → MTG → MTG MIDI Harmonizer. Type in your key.
- At the top of the plugin, Side Chain = your mic input.
- Record-arm the track (the R button).
It isn't an Audio FX. Putting it in an Audio FX slot gives Error -50. That's normal for this kind of plugin in Logic.

Set it to MTG mode

- Hold the knob for half a second to open the menu.
- Turn to Mode and press until it shows MTG.
- Turn to Save Presets and press, so it remembers.
- Turn to Back to Play and press.
Want different harmonies on the keys? You can change them in the MTG Manager, at the end of this guide.
Computer · Step 5
Play!
- Press a key on the Harmonizer. The MIDI IN light at the top of the plugin goes lime.
- Play a note. You'll hear the harmony.
- Use DRY / WET to balance your sound and the harmony.
HX Stomp · Step 1
What you need
You need a MIDI host box: the Harmonizer sends MIDI over USB only, and the host box turns it into 5-pin MIDI for the HX Stomp. A normal USB-to-MIDI cable won't work. Plus two 9V power adapters.
HX Stomp · Step 2
Load my HX preset
- Install HX Edit (free) from line6.com/software.
- Connect the HX Stomp to your computer with USB and open HX Edit.
- File → Import → Import Preset, choose MTG MIDI Harmonizer.hlx and load it onto your Stomp.
- Unplug the HX Stomp's USB from your computer.
The preset has everything assigned already. It's also in MTG Manager: Firmware → Using an HX Stomp? → Save HX preset.
HX Stomp · Step 3
Plug it all in
- Mic → HX Stomp input (XLR, through your preamp or XLR-to-jack).
- HX Stomp output → your interface or PA (TRS).
- Harmonizer → MIDI host box (USB-C).
- MIDI host box → HX Stomp MIDI In (5-pin MIDI).
- Power on the HX Stomp and the host box with their 9V adapters.
HX Stomp · Step 4
Set it to HX Stomp mode

- Hold the knob for half a second to open the menu.
- Turn to Mode and press until it shows HX Stomp.
- Turn to Save Presets and press, so it remembers.
- Turn to Back to Play and press. Now press any key: the harmony comes in.
Going back to the plugin later? Switch the mode back to MTG and Save Presets. Want different harmonies on the keys? Change them in the MTG Manager, at the end of this guide.
Nice one, enjoy it!

Update and edit your presets
Use the free MTG Manager app when you want to update your Harmonizer or change the harmonies on its keys. You don't need it to play.
- Open it and accept the licence agreement.
- Type in the same licence key and click Activate.
- Plug in your Harmonizer. The Manager finds it on its own.
- Go to Firmware. If there's an update, choose Download and install, then unplug and plug the Harmonizer back in.
Mac only for now. Windows is coming soon.
